The good news is that if you’ve prepared a large batch of blinis and have some leftovers, you don’t need to let them go to waste. You can freeze them by following the steps below:
- Allow to Cool
Once they’re cooked, remove your blinis from the oven and allow them to cool on a rack.
- Wrap in batches
If you have a particularly large batch of blinis, we’d suggest wrapping no more than six together with cling film. Be sure to double-wrap them, so they don’t suffer from freezer burn.
- Place Each Batch in a Freezer-Safe Container
Lay your wrapped blini bundles in a freezer-safe container, or use a heavy-duty freezer-safe bag.
- Label and Freeze
Either on the lid of the container or on the front of the bag, label the blinis by writing the date that you prepared them, as well as the use-by date. Remember, you can freeze blinis for around six months.

Reheat Them After Freezing
Blinis are best served warm and crispy. As such, after defrosting them, you should reheat them in the oven for between five and ten minutes to ensure they’re just right for your guests.
Avoid Freezing With Toppings
You should avoid freezing blinis that have already been topped with sour cream or any other ingredients. Doing so can cause them to go soft and soggy, and they’re unlikely to be suitable for your cocktail party. By all means, freeze your toppings separately, providing it’s safe to do so.
If you plan to use your blinis within three days, you don’t need to freeze them. Simply wrap them well in cling film and place them in the fridge, and they will be perfectly fine to enjoy as they are. Even after refrigerating, however, we recommend reheating them in the oven.

Then, once defrosted, preheat your oven and line your blinis on a tray lined with greaseproof paper. After baking them for five to ten minutes, they will be suitably warm and crispy and perfect for serving to your expectant dinner guests.
Can You Refreeze Blinis?
